Books to make you laugh, cry, & swoon.
I trademarked that. It is the official tagline of my brand. The origin of the line came from a very (very!) early reader of Not Suitable for Work. She said, “Ohmygod, I laughed, I cried, I got the tingles!” I loved it. So, I kept it.
It’s more than a clever line. It’s the entire goal behind my writing. Laugh, cry, & swoon. What else do I need to give you? What could be better than a story that gave you all the feels?
This is why I write open-door romance. Because, to me, a love story needs all those things. A love story will be funny. Maybe even a bit awkward. It will be agonizing because putting your heart on the line always is. And it will make you swoon because passion is important. Passion for life. Passion for each other. Whatever you’re passionate about, I dare you to feel it. The rush, the breath-catch. Yes, passion in the novels often equals steam. But passion is a broader idea than that.
And I want you to feel it. All of it!
A love story needs all three elements. So does your life.
If you want to know what happy-ever-after really means, then I humbly suggest that you’ll need to laugh, cry, and swoon. It doesn’t have to be over another person. It can be all on your own. It can be in all the ways that you need it, and none of the ways you don’t. But all three form the bedrock of a healthy heart-centric existence.
So go on. Laugh. Cry. And most definitely swoon.
